We partner with Arup to support contingent recruitment processes. On behalf of Arup, we are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst for a 9-month long contract based in Newcastle . The role will partner with the project delivery teams in the Transport and EWR portfolios in the North and North West and Yorkshire geographies to ensure best practice across our project financial administration. In the role, you'll develop strong, effective, and credible relationships with the business and project leaders, using data and trends to inform decision making, and demonstrate best practice in project financial administration, reporting into the Finance Business Partner as a senior member of the Finance Operations team. As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will: Partner with project managers to review project finances, assess KPIs, maintain up-to-date project forecasts and supporting narrative, resolving any variances or anomalies. Work closely with Finance Business Partner on group-related finances acting as a delegate when required. Assist the FBP with preparing financial and commercial analysis, interpretation, insight, and narrative to support. Support the Finance Business Partner with identifying risks, opportunities, and trends to ensure effective decision making contributing towards the financial and commercial success. Support in preparation of fee invoices and applications for payment, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing to clients, understanding and flagging variances from the project forecast. Advise and guide Bid Managers on queries, including appropriate contracting entity, any tax considerations for discussion with the Global Tax team, and rate support. Work closely with the Finance Business Partner on the regular financial cycle activities including ABP, Outturn, month end, monthly/quarterly reporting etc. ensuring on time and accurate financial results and that issues are investigated, resolved, or escalated as appropriate. Lead the analysis of overhead expenditure and trends including expenses on closed jobs, non-billable expenditure, and general ledger activity, providing insight to the Finance Business Partner. Lead the support to the Finance Business Partner on all financial aspects of client project and statutory audits. Other ad hoc activities as directed by the Finance Business Partner. Skills and experience we're looking for: Financial certificate, degree, or a professional finance qualification (e.g. AAT, CIMA, ACCA) is preferable - either achieved or currently studying towards Experience of working in a similar role Experience of financial management of projects (budgeting, financial planning) Excellent numeracy skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office packages Strong analytical skills with the ability to present data and provide clear and concise explanations Strong commercial knowledge and understanding of the markets in which the business operates Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) Ability to collaborate and build relationships with all stakeholders Exceptional attention to detail, with ability to see the big picture and broader context Proactive approach Ability to work independently and as part of a team Diversity at Arup Arup is an equal opportunity employer that actively promotes and nurtures a diverse and inclusive workforce.
